Mr. Polavarapu specializes in prosecution of patent applications, particularly in handheld electronic devices, storage devices, bio-medical devices, printers, semiconductors, audio and video encoding/decoding, enterprise software, broadband networking technologies, encryption/decryption technologies, internet technologies, and mobile applications. He has drafted patent applications and assisted in drafting responses and appeal briefs to USPTO office actions and in conducting patentability and validity searches.

Mr. Polavarapu has worked with intellectual property departments of small, medium and large scale enterprises in India to develop IP awareness among the engineers allowing them to identify potential inventions and avoid unnecessary public disclosures. He has also provided opinions and courses of action on search reports from the International Search Authority (ISA).


Prior to that, Mr. Polavarapu worked as a software engineer for Lucent Technologies in Boston, where he was involved in developing and maintaining software for device drivers.
